One Book Meme

Jason tagged me to name One Book that...

Here’s what I got.

1. One book that changed your life: Acts.2. One book that you’ve read more than once: Hosea.3. One book you’d want on a desert island: The Gospel of John.

4. One book that made you laugh: Ezekiel.

5. One book that made you cry: Lamentations. (Seriously, read the Bible straight through. You’ll get really involved with the story of the Nation of Israel. You start to empathize with the prophets and God and start cry out, “Please repent, c’mon.” It’s similar to watching a horror movie and shouting at the TV, “No, don’t go in there!” When they finally get taken captive, you’ve been through this whole struggle with them and it brings you to tears.)

6. One book that you wish had been written: Proverbs.

7. One book that you wish had never been written: James. (Not really, but you know you get convicted like crazy when you read it too.)

8. One book you’re currently reading:The Gospel of Matthew.

9. One book you’ve been meaning to read: The Gospel of Mark.

10. As is my habit with meme’s if you’d like to be tagged let me know and I’ll link you up.

um…speaking of books, i was gonna leave this comment anyway, but you wrote a blog about books/God, so now it gets to sort of relate:

i’m reading velvet elvis by rob bell & he was talking about the way jewish disciples learned from their rabbis with the yokes & all of that. anyway, i started thinking about how that’s a really effective way to learn, & it got me thinking on how/when i started taking the learning about God bit seriously. i realized that i had someone who was a teacher to me, tho he made sure that the Real Teacher got all the credit. he was you. i understand a lot of things the way i do because i had you to help me understand them. part of why i like rob bell’s writing is because he looks at God’s word as a cohesive story. he understands the contexts, and that’s something i remember you made a big deal about too, & so it appealed to me, & God has used that to help me understand a lot more.
so, i wanted to let you know that i praise God for you & all that you have been in my life, because it’s been a lot & it’s been amazing. God bless, billy!
