I’m so happy to hear that things are going so well for you. I pray God will continue to bless your heart and your life.

“Hear Us From Heaven” is one of my favorites. We had to bring it down a step or two, but we pulled it off nonetheless! It was actually one of the most powerful “prayer time” songs we used to do. Watch those high harmonies!

Glad the first week went great!

I liked your observance of the rule of thirds. That works well for me. lol

Yeah we sung it in B – which is up there. There were some parts on the verse that were to low to drop it. (“Breathe life into these dry and thirsty souls.”) You must have some more bass in the throat man.

The church as a whole can really get into songs once they know them well. A lot of folks knew He Reigns 🙂

SWEET! Congrats on the move to Chase Valley. Sounds like you got settled in quick. I’ll have to check into “Hear Us From Heaven.” Sounds like something to add to my list.

Hey Billy, thanks for the link. Glad you picked up Seth’s book. Can I say, “I told you so”? Yep, Singing for the Stars is the best and most inexpensive way to get quality voice training in a short time. So glad to hear you are improving your pipes… I have to admit it was kinda weird listening to you talk about my blog though. 🙂

    God bless!

We used those opportunities where it was too low to let an alto sing the verse. We liked to use those moments to give other worship leaders the opportunity to lead or as short “get you comfortable” times for those who had never led before. But you’re right! I can barely reach down to get it in B! Circle of 3rds huh? I think your wife and my wife would be pretty good friends – the girl eats, lives, and breathes theory!

lol….that’s not circle of thirds, mj. It’s rule of thirds. It’s an art theory.

Hey dude kudos! I’m glad things have started off great at the new church! I don’t know why we don’t do more Newsboys stuff, I want to but never get around to it. Some of their songs, like He Reigns are just mad good!

We sang Hear Us From Heaven today in chapel
it is and was an awesome song
[one of the few that I can sing and not sound retarded]
& I still think Newsboys does the best version of He Reigns
