As a worship leader who blogs, who is friends with a lot of other worship leaders who blog, it’s tough to pick 5 feeds that are “the best.” I think the value in this exercise is looking at the five below and asking, “What do they do? How can I make my blog better?” I possibly even think that some guys on the list have doubts about the value of their blogs. Maybe they’ll see that a lot of us regard them highly and get challenged by this post to produce some killer content.
These are the best of the best in Worship Leader Blogs:
- Fred McKinnon – (feed)
- Rich Kirkpatrick – (feed)
- John Voelz – (feed)
- Chris Vacher – (feed)
- Worship Trench – (feed)
Who did I miss? Who’s on your list?
(Feel free to say, “my blog” I will not hesitate to tell you to subscribe to my blog, I know my content rocks. Be proud and do some shameless self promotion.)
You’re on my list.
Hey Billy – thanks for the list.
I’m going to have to trump these guys and mention that Worship Matters from Bob Kauflin needs to top the list. Why?
While these guys are great (I read all except John Voelz – who I hadn’t heard of until now) – they have good content dealing with worship leading – they’re not exclusively dealing with worship leading. Maybe I’m the odd man out, and hey, I love community, but to me, especially for reading a blog from a worship leader – I want content that trains and equips me every time I read it. Bob does that.
Sure, maybe Bob’s community side is a bit lacking (but give the guy a break, he’s busy), but nobody beats his content.
I guess it might be a bit too heavy for some, but to me, he tops the list.
Oh, and I hear I am an Offering is pretty good too. (You told me to. š
Hi Billy,
Great BLOG choices.
I’m a regular reader of Fred McKinnon’s BLOG as well as Jordan Fowler’s worshiptrench.
I’m also a periodic reader of Ryan’s suggestion: Bob Kauflin’s Worship Matters.
Another BLOG that I frequently visit is Mark Garner’s “Seized by a Great Affection.”
Mark is a Worship Leader up in the DFW Metroplex and each week he posts stories about the songs on his playlist for the coming week. He calls the weekly post, “Behind the Praise.”
There’s lots of great information and history there. There are also links to online versions of the songs – like on YouTube and such.
It’s really good for weekly devotional reading as well as being a resource for Worship Leaders. (In fact, I think that Mark even has some Worship Leaders send him their weekly playlists and then he customizes and uploads a “Behind the Praise” especially for their church to read. Not sure how all that works exactly but Mark could tell you.)
It might or might not fit your criteria for “Top Worship Leader Blogs” but it’s definitely worth checking out.
Hey, thanks for having such a great BLOG yourself, Billy.
Blessings,
David Guion

Encouraging the daily praise and worship of Jesus Christ because worship is a daily lifestyle, not just a weekly event!
well you missed mine of course. lol. i love mine
and yours..
and I read ryans now – i am an offering
consuming worship
Live to worship..love snow junkie
honestly top 5 is real tough..
I really depends on what top 5 means..
beacuse I get stuff out of some of these you might not..
and some I read but dont get much of anything out of the – like 2 very very popular blogs
Wow…i get top five. Yippee. But oh the pressure. Yours should be in top just for the humorous insight. You do need to start reading or top fiving worshipmatters by Kauflin (of course I am a bit neo-reformed).
Also, dude, you need to return the mirrored giant billychia header. It was a little vain but oh so cool. HA!
I would have to include Mr Ragamuffin Soul. I know you already did on another list. But because he has really laid the foundation for a lot of what these other bloggers do I think he deserves some credit.
Thanks Billy for the love.
You and ragamuffin both misspell my name however. š
Good thoughts guys – any others?
Rich – remedied.
hey billy
I know I said I send this in an email, but here ya go.
1. Worship Matters – kauflin
2. Doxoligist – Tim Smith from Mars Hill
3. Sojourn – Bobby Gilles
I read a lot of other guys blogs too, but I hit these three the most.
Billy,
Thanks, man. I’m 220+ blogs unread in Google Reader, but got directed to this one when I got a “Google Alert” email with my fredmckinnon.com address in it. (I like to know when people are praising or bashing, hahaha), oh the vanity.
Thanks, man .. seriously. It does inspire me to be consistent and do this!
Guest Blogs coming next week, I’m on vacation!
Fred
What about my blog? Oh wait…I can only play a handful of chords. And I can’t sing to save my life. And I’m not a worship leader. Never mind.
I’m glad to see my friend Rich on the list though. Nice!
Good list, Billy. Thanks for taking the time and trouble to do an informal poll on the issue. I think it lends itself to the sense of community we’re all trying to build with one another.
I think I’ve even discovered a couple more here to add to my reader.
I’m a relatively newcomer with a BLOG that’s about one month old but hopefully you will find it useful and practical.

Worship Ministry Catalyst is a networking resource for all worship leaders and worship team members serving as a catalyst to improve worship in the local church.
Great list, thanks for doing this!
RKWL – Love Rich Kirkpatrick’s. Interesting topics. Great questions. Mythbusters series was enlightening. The writing is top quality and not trite.
Hey buddy – good list. I have been refining the kinds of blogs that I look for and lots of the ones that have been listed here are on my top list – including yours!
GregAtkinson.com – Check it!
And, yes, Rich’s blog is great.
