Had some media challenges today. I was introing the Christmas verse to offering and asked the tech to put the words on the screen. But they didn’t go up. I asked people to help me sing it because this verse always chokes me up. (Yes, I know I’m a pansy sap. I’m ok with that.) Well this verse didn’t get up while we sang it either. Made for an awkward moment.
During the sermon I checked inwith the tech and found out that verse didn’t make it into the Media Shout. I did a little on the fly training and showed him how to add in the extra verse. I’m actually pretty proud of the guy for having such a learning heart. I said, “We shoot for improvement, not perfection.”
we had some snafus today as well but people worshiped. Our pianist started the totally wrong song in the first set and it was in the wrong key and they all transposed on the fly. It just felt wild, but it was good. We learn from those moments, you know?
Dude you are not alone with choking on words. There are just some songs that no matter how much I sing them I just can’t seem to remember some part of the song. I try to play it off and not make it obvious when it happens. Anyways great setlist! Are the songs with your name, songs that you have written?
The Christmas verse to Offering is awesome.
Johonny,
I wrote the arrangments for those songs and I wrote an extra chorus to O Come Emmanuel. I ripped off the words and the melody from the great hymn-writters of the past 🙂
Hey man, that’s just real. No worries there.
I love “Glory in the Highest”. I would like to hear your arrangements of “O come” and “My hope”. 🙂
Hey, how do I get a copy of the destined-to-become-a-classic Billy Chia tune, “O Come Emmanuel”?
